My name is McKenna, and I am the owner of Oh Sew Darling!
Growing up, I would constantly hear about how similar I am to my grandma. "You're your grandma's child," I would hear after bringing yet another load of someone else's "junk" home with me from spending hours at a flea market. Truthfully, I have always loved how similar I am to my grandma and how we shared the same interests and preferences in just about everything (except how we like our biscuits cooked). One of my favorite interests I took after her was her love for sewing.
Grandma bought me my first sewing machine when I was five years old; it was this small pink and purple little sewing machine for kids. I vividly remember being glued to that thing for weeks after first getting it, and I loved learning more things about sewing and watching her sew when I would go visit her.
I am really bad at sticking to things, even when I enjoy them, and unfortunately, sewing was not something I remained consistent in, but the interest was still always there in the back of my mind. As I recently got back into sewing, I rediscovered my love and passion for it. I then combined this love for sewing with my immense love for thrifting, and I realized I could turn my two favorite hobbies into a full time job. Since having my beautiful baby in February, I have been so desperate to find some sort of work that did not force me to have to choose between having an income and being at home with my baby. This business has fulfilled that dream of mine, and I am so grateful for that.
