Theme #1: One of a kind, and handmade with so much love, just like you!
One of my absolute favorite things about what I do is getting the chance to make TRULY one of a kind pieces that no one else will create or own. You will not find the exact same fabrics, turned into the exact same quilt, that has then been turned into the exact same piece that I have created. I think that is SO cool and special! What is even more special than that is knowing how we were also created entirely one of a kind too!
Genesis 1:26-27: "Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.' So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them."
Psalm 139:14: "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
Isaiah 64:8: "Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand."
Ephesians 2:10: "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
YOU are so beautifully and wonderfully made! YOU are made entirely one of a kind! YOU were designed and made with so much love!!
Theme #2: Being made new
In the process of taking used second hand items and turning them into unique and one of a kind pieces, I view it as giving these well loved fabrics/quilts a new life. I am taking something ripped, stained, damaged, and hardly being used and turning it to something that will be used and seen by the world.
Similarly, we are made new and given new life in our wonderful Savior. He takes us, sinners, who are stained and damaged and dirty, and gives us a new chance at life.
Isn't that so beautiful?
Ephesians 2:4-5: “But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead.”
2 Corinthians 5:17: “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
Theme #3: Save the planet!
Sewing is such a lost art in this generation. The fast fashion industry has completely taken over, and shopping second hand or even handmaking your own clothes is viewed as an "aesthetic" or a "rare talent".
I am an old soul; I absolutely adore music from the 50s and 60s, I would sell everything I own in order to possess a 1970's Ford Bronco, I think modern homes are absolutely disgusting compared to the way homes used to be designed, and I believe modern technology and AI is completely ruining everyone's lives.
Shopping second hand is one of my biggest passions. I think a solid 98.72% of my house decor/furniture is second-hand, and the other 1.28% was gifted to me. Not only does thrifting almost everything I own just make sense regarding my sense of style, but it's also so wonderful for the environment which I also care quite a bit about. So, learning how to make unique items of clothing using second hand fabrics just made perfect sense to me!
I hope to encourage everyone who comes into contact with my brand to not only shop second hand, but learn to sew! Let's go back to the "good ole days" where things like Shein or Temu didn't exist and where saying "Thanks, I made it" when someone compliments your outfit isn't the most shocking phrase every heard!
